The school is asking me if I am SOPPA compliant

Effective July 1, 2021, school districts will be required by the Student Online Personal Protection Act (SOPPA) to provide additional guarantees that student data is protected when collected by educational technology companies, and that data is used for beneficial purposes only (105 ILCS 85).

As Illinois are Alliance members of the Student Data Privacy Consortium (SDPC), this means that the school district needs to initiate the signing of the National Data Privacy Agreement (NDPA) with you.  It is the school districts responsibility to ensure they are SOPPA compliant.  There is no fee/certification associated with signing an NDPA.

An example of the NDPA can be found here: https://privacy.a4l.org/national-dpa/
